Hello loves, hope your week is going well. I hope you guys are loving these interviews as much as i'm loving doing them! This weekend I got the pleasure to interview Zaida from The Zae List. I have been following her on instagram for a couple of months and I absolutely love her style, so I asked for an interview and here it is:
Give a quick intro of yourself
My name is Zaida Marie Sanchez. I am 27 years old. I reside in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My ethnicity is Puerto Rican. I'm am a single mother of a 3.5 yr old boy. I am currently interning at Factory PR and looking to freelance as a social media manager.
What makes you “different”?
I guess what I feel makes me different is my perspective on blogging. I kind of resent the word "fashionista", I feel it waters down the creativity of being a style blogger.
Who is your favorite designer or brand?
I always have a tough time answering this question because I feel like I appreciate every designer. Even if it's a style I don't necessarily feel compliments me. If I HAD to choose right now I think it would be Balmain. I love the rugged yet feminine silhouettes. I also love the choice of colors that are used through the collections. Always on point.
Who is your biggest fashion inspiration?
Christine Centenera. She's the epitome of street style. Still super classic. Love her.
What piece in your closet could you not live without?
Hands down. Leather jacket. I rock it year round.
What would you say your fashion philosophy is? (what fashion means to you)
Personally I feel it's about identifying with your idea of what style is. However you decide to showcase your individuality - own it.
Describe your style with two words
What is your number one fashion advice?
Never rule anything out until you have tried it on (multiple times) and played around with different fabrics and cuts. I've sold myself short so many time because I felt something "wouldn't look good" on me or I was "too chesty" or whatever. TRY EVERYTHING ON!
What do you think is the most important thing in ones appearance for example; shoes, hair, clothes, handbag, attitude, etc.
Attitude. If you're sweet and bubbly be sweet and bubbly. If you're an asshole. Well be an asshole, just don't be disrespectful. Don't try to fit a mold. Seriously, we have one life to live. Stay true to yourself and own your personality. Nourish relationships- everyone needs someone. These are tips you can take into any field. Don't believe the hype that you have to be "bitchy" in the fashion field. Stern? Yes. Assertive? Absolutely. But don't be a bitch.
To produce a runway show or a clothing line. I think.
Europe. Everywhere in Europe.
Where is your ideal place to live if you could only choose one place to live for the rest of your life?
Honestly. No idea. I really need to start traveling more so that I can figure that out.
If money wasn’t a problem what would you do for a job?
I would always want to be in the Fashion field at some capacity. But ultimately, if money weren't an object I would love to travel the world and help the less fortunate.
What could you not live without?
Hmmmmm. Jesus. My son. My Fam & Friends. Leather jacket. My shoes. Books. Music. Ketchup!
Favorite song right now?
Tove Lo: Habits (Stay High)
DRAKE, Florence & the Machine, Lana del Rey, The Xx, lorde, Kendrick Lamar, and Beyoncé.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
If you could change one thing in the world, what would you change?
Hunger. No one should go to bed hungry.
There is a quote that says “every person is here for reason, everyone has a purpose”; what would you say is your purpose?
Ultimately I feel my life's purpose is to help people. To spread the word of God. To let people know that there is a Jesus Christ who exists. I'm not religious but I do believe in Jesus and his word.
What is your hobby/hobbies?
Blogging and dancing. :)
Snowflower & the Secret Fan by Lisa See ...(Real deep huh)

If you could go back and give your 13 year old self a piece of advice what would it be?
Chill out but kill it in high school and go away to college. But chill, you will figure things out. ;)
